The Place of Arabic in English as a Foreign Language University Level Classes in Jordan

Modern graduates face major challenges in the international job market where knowledge of English and other foreign languages became one most important requirements a well-trained professional. Even though demands such candidates increase, methodology teaching remains same. educators students demand inclusion first language their as Foreign Language classrooms, yet still, this method is considered controversial. Previous research generated ambiguous inconclusive findings that current study tries to re-explore. This aims find out a) students’ attitude towards implementing classes; b) how these attitudes can be related proficiency levels; c) potential purposes using classrooms; d) if teachers support bilingual approach classrooms. The uses mixed-method design by applying survey filled 400 studying at Al-Balqa Applied University semi-structured interviews with 5 instructors from same institute collect data needed. recognized both situational application Arabic especially when it comes reading comprehension activities introducing new grammar topic or vocabulary items. use has proportionate level target proficiency, basic speakers require more often than advanced counterparts.
